Des Moines, IA– Just days after megastar Bill Cosby admitted to obtaining drugs to give to women he wanted to have sex with, the Los Angeles Police Department announced they would open a criminal investigation into the comedian’s alleged assaults.

On Wednesday, the LAPD told ABC News that there is an open investigation into Cosby after a deposition was released in which he admitted to giving a woman Quaaludes before the two had sex in Las Vegas.

That deposition took place in 2005 in connection to a civil sexual assault case filed against Cosby which was later settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, according to ABC News.

Depositions for that case were sealed, but the Associated Press fought to have them released. The judge who unsealed the documents noted that since Bill Cosby often speaks about morality it was in the public’s interest to release the documents.

In the deposition, the man who played the lovable Dr. Huxtable, admitted to obtaining the Quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women he wanted to have sex with.

Only about 16 pages of the suit were released so it is unclear if there are any other stunning admissions in the deposition. The woman at the center of that case, however is pushing the judge to seal the entire deposition, according NBC News. The woman alleges Cosby violated the confidentiality agreement by speaking about the case in the first place.

For the over two dozen women who have accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them, Cosby’s admission to obtaining drugs is vindication for their claims and now more people will take their allegations seriously.

All of the women making allegations about Cosby all have similar stories. They all allege that Cosby agreed to help them break into the entertainment industry or secure a role on “The Cosby Show,” but when he was alone with them, they allege he drugged them. According to the many accounts of Cosby’s inappropriate behavior, the women would wake up sometimes unaware of what happened to them. Sometimes they would awaken in various stages of undress with Cosby over them in the middle of a sex act while others were aware they had been sexually brutalized.

Although Cosby’s victims have been coming forward for years, no one has believed them and their accusations have been repeatedly dismissed. This is something victims of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment face on a regular basis. No one believes them and turns it around, often accusing the victims of being gold diggers out for a money grab.

So far, Cosby hasn’t faced any criminal charges for the sexual assaults, but the LAPD is trying to determine if they can charge him with anything criminal even though the statutes of limitations have already expired for the sexual assault charges.

Whether or not he will face criminal charges, Cosby will probably face additional civil suits from his many accusers now that he admitted to obtaining drugs with the express purpose of having sex with women.
