Los Angeles, CA– Several employees of a Los Angeles-area call center were awarded $600,000 this week to settle claims they were repeatedly sexually harassed by their bosses.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced Sept.14th that the settlement against VXI Global Solutions will put to rest a 2014 case filed by male and female employees for one of company’s call centers located in Los Angeles.

The EEOC says in their press release that at least 13 supervisors for the VXI Global Solutions created a hostile work environment and subjected workers to some pretty appalling behavior.

Female employees were subjected to “unsolicited groping and touching, constant or continued sexual propositioning, and grotesque comments of a sexual nature by male supervisors,” according to the release.

According to the EEOC press release, a female supervisor was accused of giving a male coworker a lap dance at work and calling him “gay” when he objected to the unwanted sexual attention.

Supervisors threatened worker to keep them from reporting their behavior and workers who made attempts to file a complaint met with resistance. According to the EEOC, human resources employees didn’t make themselves available to the victims and when reports finally reached them some of the victimized employees were disciplined or fired.

On top of compensating the victims, VXI Global Solutions agreed to make changes to their sexual harassment training and reporting system. They have also agreed to track any complaints of sexual harassment and retaliation.  Additionally, the EEOC will monitor the company and ensure they comply with the agencies orders.
