Bloomington, MN– Turns out that Dr. Walter Palmer, the Minnesota dentist who will go down in history as the douche man responsible for killing a beloved African lion, not only preys on animals but also preyed on one of his female employees.

After Dr. Palmer’s trophy hunt grabbed national headlines, multiple news outlets began looking into the dentist’s background only to find that a former employee accused him of repeated sexual harassment in 2009. According to the Daily Mail, Dr. Palmer settled with employee for $127,500 to put the matter to rest.

The female employee alleged Dr. Palmer made unwanted comments and inappropriately touched the woman’s breasts, buttocks and genitalia. The woman also alleged she was fired for reporting his behavior.

In 2009, the Minnesota Board of Dentistry dismissed the woman’s complaint after Palmer agreed to the settlement, but he was still asked to go through ethics training. By agreeing to the settlement, Palmer didn’t admit to any wrongdoing, saying he only agreed to pay the woman so he could put the suit behind him.

Of course we probably wouldn’t have known about this sexual harassment suit if Dr. Palmer hadn’t killed a big male lion which he just had to brag about.

Some Americans take issue with trophy hunting and some don’t, but Palmer’s kill has garnered him so much national attention because the male lion he killed was one of the most famous in Zimbabwe and part of an Oxford university study. His name was Cecil, he was collared and he was world famous. He has lived in Zimbabwe’s national park for the past thirteen years and sired many cubs.

Palmer’s trophy hunt also earned him the ire of millions because the hunt was illegal. According to the Daily Mail, Palmer along with his hunting guides lured Cecil the lion out of the national park, shot him with compound bow and hunted him down for hours. After finally shooting Cecil, Palmer and his guides decapitated the Cecil and removed his collar.

What’s even worse is the fact he laid all the responsibility on his hunting guides, blaming them for his actions. He had to know luring the lion out the national park was illegal but that didn’t stop him from continuing the hunt.

Palmer has since temporarily closed down his dental practice and has not spoken to the media, with the exception of a statement in which he expressed regret for killing Cecil and put the blame for the illegal hunt on his guides.
