We had earlier reported about Mr. Benjamin Wey and the allegations against him. Well, it turns out that these allegations were legitimate. Benjamin Wey is the CEO of New York Global Group and is therefore a very successful and well to do professional.

Wey chose the wrong person

According to NY Daily News, initially a lawsuit was filed against Wey by a sexual harassment attorney representing the plaintiff in the case – Hanna Bouveng. As per the lawsuit, Bouveng claimed that Wey and she met at a party in an uptown night club in New York. Wey then became overly generous by not only offering her a job in his firm but by also putting her up in a swanky apartment and paying nearly $3,500 in rent every month. Furthermore, he would take her on exotic vacations all over the world and even shower her with expensive presents. However, for all this, there was something Wey wanted in return – sex.

Why would this surprise anyone?

According to the allegations in the lawsuit, Bouveng had sexual intercourse four times with Wey in the luxurious apartment he was renting out for her. Rather humorously, the lawsuit went on to detail that each time the ordeal only lasted a few minutes.

Sexual assault claims against Wey dismissed by Jury

The lawsuit sought damages for sexual assault and defamation. According to Bouveng, she started ignoring advances from Wey for sex in February of 2014 and he became a totally different person from that point onwards. He became jealous and fired her, threw her out of the apartment and even had a brief and unpleasant encounter with her then boyfriend.

Did she think Wey was paying the rent so her boyfriend could live there?

The jury dismissed Bouveng’s claims of sexual assault, but they did rule in her favor as far as the defamation allegations were concerned.

Supposedly, Wey posted content on his website which portrayed that Bouveng in a very bad light. It essentially insinuated that she was a prostitute and was addicted to drugs.

Wey’s sexual harassment attorneys commented that they were upset with the ruling of the jury and that they would appeal the verdict and fight against it and achieve justice. They were also vocal about how the jury had dismissed sexual assault charges. They also maintained that their client never had sex with Bouveng, and that she was fired because her partying lifestyle was negatively interfering with her work ethic.

Wey – you made a terrible decision here; Bouveng is an unskilled millionaire

The jury has awarded Bouveng $18 million in total. Out of the $18 million, $2 million was non-economic compensatory damages and a staggering $16 million was for punitive damages (meant purely to punish the defendant).

Many people are wondering what did Wey even see in Bouveng in the first place?

Founder and organizer of Anime Masturi under the scanner for sexual harassment

John Leigh is credited for creating and organizing Anime Masturi every year. Anime Masturi is one of the country’s top ten annual anime conventions and it draws hundreds of thousands of followers from all over the globe, as reported by Houston Press.

However, the founder’s character has been tarnished recently by numerous sexual harassment allegations stemming from multiple women. Leigh’s sexual harassment attorney, who could have been found on the winning website USAttorneys.com, would have told him a long time ago he should keep some comments to himself.

The only defense Leigh has against these allegations is that he meant no harm by his comments and was only joking. It seems like only a matter of time before lawsuits are filed.
